How Much Does Petco Pay Part-Time Workers?

Part-time workers are paid between $8.50 and $10.00 an hour, depending on whether or not a full-time employee performs the work. This is the minimum wage of $7.25 an hour for full-time workers. If the part-time worker does not earn more than the full-time salary, their employer will pay them overtime.

The full-time rate of pay is the hourly rate from which employers are not permitted to reduce the hours of a full-time employee. In other words, employers can only pay part-time workers overtime to avoid paying full-time employees. In other words, their employer can not pay full-time workers less than half the hourly rate of pay for all employees. This means that a worker who earns less than full-time wage will receive overtime for all of the hours performed. The average hourly rate is often the highest. If a job is more than 100 hours in total and it is done by an employee who earns the minimum amount of overtime every 4 hours, such an employee will receive 100 hours of overtime per workweek.

Can a 12-year-old get a job at Petco?

A 12-year-old could, but no, not on Petco. This is how the law is written; not only will they need some special permission on your behalf, but the law will require you get an exclusive license or a special permit to work on Petco property.

Why can’t it be 12-year-olds?

The rules were changed recently to allow anyone under 12 who is an employee, or a contractor or subcontractor of Petco to perform Petco services. There is one exception to this rule in case of an emergency, where a person who is 16 years of age or older can perform a service for Petco with proper permission.

How did this happen?

It is because in 2005 when Petco changed the rules, they were unable to obtain an employee license for Petco employees (there is a separate application process required for that, and most states require an application to become an employee). Thus Petco needed to obtain special permission from Petco to keep this new rule. They had received special approval only under the assumption that anyone under ten should not be employees on Petco property. So Petco decided to create an entire category of employees under the “exempt individuals” that they do not require employees to get a unique, written permit (and even then they ask the person to apply for special permission). So, they decided to change the rules again to allow 12-year-olds to do jobs on Petco property under the new, altered laws.
